(More customer reviews)After getting super unlucky with grass blends purchased at Home Depot (Scotts Turf Builder), which contained a lot of weeds and actually killed our good grass, I bought this Polo Mix. Before purchasing, I did a lot of research and found out that some blends may be great for some regions, but not others. The following websites provide good information ['] After deciding on what seemed to be the right blend, I found a brand that offered those grasses in appropriate proportions. Polo Mix seemed perfect for my needs: 1) part direct sun; 2) part shade; 3) some areas will be super high traffic; and 4) I needed my grass to be green all year long.
We planted 3 weeks ago (end of October) and got lucky with several days of nice weather 40-65 F, so the rye grass in the mix had an opportunity to germinate. NOTE: Do not forget to check nitrogen level in your soil; we couldn't figure out how to do that exactly, so we used organic nitrogen fertilizer that we picked up at Home Depot to avoid burning the lawn.
Before planting, we had some patches that were downright bald, and now, 3 weeks later, there is a cute green carpet covering all those patches. I am actually ordering a second bag of Polo Mix to overseed in spring -- I do not want to take the chance of not having this grass 5 months from now. I will update my review when other grasses in the mix start coming out in the spring. For now, this is a great buy!
