As I don't have any other pieces in this pattern, know that this newer one may or may not exactly match older pieces that were made in England. This item was shipped very quickly from Amazon, double boxed, with plenty of padding. The gold border is substantial and unchipped. The color is strong and as represented on the Amazon page; I am impressed with the workmanship and quality of the finish.
The reason that I'm deducting a star is that Amazon shipped this to me with no manufacturer documentation whatsoever. So, I went to the official Royal Doulton website, and here is the information they have regarding the 13 inch platter:

So, there is no specific information, either on the platter or the Royal Doulton official website, to support Amazon's claim that the trim is 22 carat gold. Further, you probably shouldn't microwave anything on this platter because, again, there is no information to indicate that this would be safe. Royal Doulton lists the MSRP at $215 and will sell you this platter for $150.50, so Amazon's price at $29 with super saver shipping is outstanding.
