The seatback has more wood, less metal than many similar benches available, and I think this adds to both the looks and comfort. Wood appears to be good quality. Assembly was pretty easy (more on that later), the holes for the screws drilled in the correct places, which is important obviously. The packaging was unbelievably poor. It didn't even come in a box exactly, it was more like scrap cardboard held together by packing tape, hastily done by a 9-year old. The heavy bench no doubt took a beating during transit. No parts missing, but the jostling during delivery loosened many of the screws holding the seat back wood panels to the frame. They could not simply be re-tightened because the holes in the wood were stripped. So, before assembly could begin, it was trip to the hardware store to buy fatter screws to fix this. (the originals were #8 by 1/2", I purchased #10 x 1/2" to fix). The instructions were in shreds but I figured it out. There are two metal supports for the wood slats, not just one like an inferior bench I bought a few years ago. I would have included 3 if it was my design. I applied sealant to all the wood prior to assembly, which is not part of this review but I just think is a good idea. As said, the finished product is very attractive and comfortable. 3.75 stars taking all into account.
